did you go out dancing last night? i did and the rain felt fine dripping off the tip of my nose sliding down the slopes of my shoulders. i ran up the hill to the field and stood in the center of it with my arms parallel to the ground face up to the sky eyes closed laughing as though the clouds had the funniest joke to tell. i spun first with my arms out, then bringing them in down to the sides of my body picking up momentum then slowing down again. i invented my own dance under the shaking flashing empyrean booming in my ears like jetplanes shouting down from the sky. the dirt soaked up the water and it snuck in between my toes conspiring with the grass. i danced for an hour and watched the electric currents streak the clouds with light and waited for my bones to absorb the storm.
